He Yadong, spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce (MOC), said at a regular press conference that the EU's anti-subsidy case against China's electric vehicles (EVs) has always captured widespread attention from all sectors in China and Europe.

Last week, Ola Kallenius, Chairman of Mercedes-Benz Group, had a video call with Minister Wang Wentao, once again expressing the European automotive industry's support and expectation that both sides will resolve their differences through dialogue and consultation as soon as possible.

China has been making every effort to promote dialogue and consultation, while hoping that the EU will listen to the voice of the industry, work with China halfway with practical actions, address each other's reasonable concerns and jointly promote the achievement of results in the consultations, the spokesman said.

When Chinese President Xi Jinping spoke with European Council President Antonio Costa on the phone, he expressed that China is willing to work with the EU to expand mutual openness; expand cooperation in green industries including EVs; properly handle economic and trade frictions through dialogue and consultation; and promote the quality and upgrade of bilateral investment cooperation.

Once the China-EU investment agreement comes into effect, it will play a pivotal role in the high-quality development of China-EU economic and trade relations. Xi said China looks forward to the EU pushing for the early signing and effectiveness of the agreement.
