OPPO Doubles Down on Indonesia w/ Smartphone Factory Expansion

As Indonesia imposed a sales ban on Apple (AAPL.US)'s iPhone, Chinese handset brand, OPPO, announced that it has expanded and upgraded its manufacturing facility in Tangerang, west of Jakarta in Indonesia, to produce a full range of phones from entry-level to high-end models. At maximum capacity, OPPO could employ 1,200 local staff and produce 2 million mobile phones per month, according to OPPO. The Company also planned to continue to increase its efforts in procuring parts for its handsets locally. Oppo started its operations in Indonesia back in 2013, and established its first smartphone production base in Indonesia in 2015. The Company also expanded its operations during the COVID-19 pandemic. Oppo has the largest market share in Indonesia, with a market share of approx. 22% in the most recent quarter, according to Canalys' data. AAStocks Financial News |
