SFC, HKEX Co-organize International Carbon Markets Summit to Discuss Expansion of Cross-border Transactions, Other Issues

The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) and HKEX (00388.HK) co-organized the International Carbon Markets Summit on Tuesday (15th), the first of its kind in Hong Kong.

More than 200 participants form local and overseas regulators, carbon trading venues, corporates and investors gathered at the summit to discuss the challenges in scaling of global voluntary carbon markets, the expansion of cross-border transactions and the role of technology in facilitating linkages.

Bonnie Chan, Chief Executive Officer of HKEX, deeply understood the importance of the global green transformation for the sustainable development of the international capital markets, Chan said.

With its role as a super-connector and its rich experience in building international capital markets in Asia, Hong Kong could actively promote this transformation.
