Zuckerberg Considers Spinning off Instagram in 2018

Meta (META.US) CEO Mark Zuckerberg said at an antitrust trial of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission on Tuesday that he had considered spinning off Instagram into an independent company in 2018 because he was worried that Instagram would undermine the Facebook social network. Zuckerberg also conceded that he believed Meta might be split up in the next 5 to 10 years, and they were discussing whether this possible outcome should be considered in advance.
